We are the CTM Theater Academy!

Supported by the Lau and Bea Christensen Access Fund

In the Academy, students can explore and grow their skills across a variety of theater disciplines including acting, musical theatre, creative drama, and more! Through the exploration of theater, CTM students also develop valuable life skills that can serve them on stage, in the classroom, and beyond.

Our program offers a variety of classes throughout the year, including Fall, Winter, Spring, Spring Break, and Summer sessions. We also offer progressive pathways for students looking to grow in a specific area. Whether you are a student trying theater for the first time, or training to pursue a career in the arts, there is a place for you in the Academy!

Pre-K – K

Spark Joy

Classes for our youngest students focus on play, storytelling, and imagination. We utilize stories, movement, music, and art to celebrate students’ creative impulses.

Grades 1-2

Spark Creativity

In our lower elementary school programs, students explore their actor tools of body, voice, & imagination to create characters, stories, and environments.

Grades 3-5

Spark Discovery

In our upper elementary school programs, students develop the skills needed to share stories with an audience, such as projection, embodying a character, and stage presence.

Grades 6-12

Spark Passion

In our middle and high school programs, students establish and refine their rehearsal and performance skills, utilize their artistic voice, make bold choices, and contribute creatively.

Advanced Acting Company

CTM’s Advanced Acting Company (Grades 8-12) is an ensemble of diverse artistic voices selected to explore, learn, and grow together while working towards common goals. Through both large and small group activities and instruction, AAC explores ensemble through movement, scenework, monologues and more, culminating in a final showcase in the Starlight Theater. Throughout the year, they form deep connections with their ensemble mates, learn from professional theater artists, and serve as role models and engaged members of the CTM community.

What We Offer

Academic Year Classes

During CTM’s Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions, students can take 8 to 10 weeks of classes. Each class curriculum explores a specific theatrical style, technique, or theme. Some classes are offered in all three sessions (such as Beginning Acting) while others are only offered once a year (such as Comedy Camp).

Spring Break Classes

When school is out of session, CTM is a place for exploring stories! In our Spring Break program, students enjoy playing theater games, creating characters, and story building based on a theme over the course of 2-4 days.

Summer Stage

Over nine weeks, Summer Stage offers one, two, and three week sessions in a variety of theater topics including creative drama, musical theater, acting, improv, performance, and more!

More Opportunities

MAINSTAGE AUDITIONS: Ages 8-18

CTM believes that wonderful actors can be found from a wide variety of life experiences and circumstances, and we encourage all to audition for us whether you have never acted before or have been in dozens of shows. Most shows are roles for a variety of experience levels.

INTERNSHIPS: Grades 9-12

CTM Internships provide career development opportunities for high school students, college students, and young adults for varying lengths throughout the year. We strive to provide all interns the chance to observe arts professionals, set goals, and grow your professional network.
